Coin Bandit — review
Cluster-pays and the Wanted mechanic
Coin Bandit swaps paylines for cluster pays: five or more identical tiles touching horizontally or vertically anywhere across the 6×5 board settle a payout. The winning cluster then detonates, fresh tiles cascade in from above and the round continues chaining until no further clusters form. What genuinely distinguishes Coin Bandit is its Wanted mechanic — during any base round, up to three individual tiles can be tagged with a Wanted poster. Those tagged tiles carry no immediate value in base play, but they persist forward and, if Sheriff's Reveal free spins fire in the next few rounds, every tagged tile converts to a sticky wild at the start of the bonus. A base round that resolves dry can still be quietly valuable if it's stockpiling Wanted markers ahead of a trigger.
Sheriff's Reveal free spins
Four scatter Sheriff badges hand out 10 free spins. At the opening of the round, every Wanted-marked tile from the preceding few base rounds is revealed as a sticky wild — so you can enter the bonus already carrying five to ten wilds fixed to the grid. During the feature, additional Wanted markers keep appearing and revealing as further sticky wilds. There is no retrigger, but an in-round "Sheriff's Reveal" tile can add extra spins. The maths is deliberately shaped so that 5-10% of bonus rounds carry the bulk of the return; most bonuses settle at 20-50x, while a small handful push into the 500-15,000x band.
Bonus Buy options
We offer two Bonus Buy tiers wherever regulation permits: 90x for the standard bonus (10 free spins with standard reveal probabilities) and 300x for Feature Buy Enhanced — the same 10 spins, but with denser Wanted-marker seeding and a higher hit rate on the sticky wilds. The Enhanced Buy sits at a theoretically stronger RTP (around 97%), though it demands genuine bankroll depth: a 300x buy at a £1 stake costs £300 per bonus, and stringing three or four cold bonuses back-to-back is not at all unusual. We lock out the Bonus Buy while any welcome-bonus wagering remains active.
Betting range and bankroll
Stakes span £0.10 to £100 per round. For a title capped at 15,000x, the raw arithmetic reaches £1.5 million at maximum stake — realistically, though, that requires an outlier feature round most players will never see. A workable bankroll is 300-500 base stakes: at £0.20 per round that's £60-100, enough to absorb 400-plus rounds while waiting for the bonus at roughly a 1-in-250 hit frequency. Skip autoplay cliff-diving; hold loss-stops at around 40% of the session bankroll.
How Coin Bandit compares
Inside Hacksaw Gaming's own catalogue, the nearest siblings are Wanted Dead or a Wild (30,000x ceiling, dead-or-alive high variance, comparable sticky-wild bonus) and Cash Compass (5,000x cap, tamer variance profile, similar cluster board). Coin Bandit sits between the two on risk/reward — the 15,000x ceiling paired with the more forgiving 300x Buy option makes it less brutal than Wanted Dead or a Wild yet noticeably swingier than Cash Compass. Look outside Hacksaw and its closest cousin is NoLimit City's San Quentin xWays — same variance tier, same emphasis on sticky-wild feature rounds, similar 150,000x-versus-15,000x cap trade-off. If Big Bass Bonanza's collect mechanic is your comfort zone, Coin Bandit is a step up in both variance and complexity, and a step down in bonus frequency.
Mobile and playability
Hacksaw's HTML5 build is portrait-first and runs cleanly even on iPhone SE-tier hardware. Cluster cascades render sharply on 4.7-inch screens, and the Wanted-poster overlay stays legible without any pinch-zoom. Data footprint is around 6 MB after the first load — comfortable on 3G. The spaghetti-western sound design is a treat, but the title plays perfectly well muted. Autoplay covers the usual 10/25/50/100/250/500-spin blocks plus loss-limit and single-win-limit stops that we default-enable for our UK-facing visitors. RTP is exposed in-game via the info button on every session — Hacksaw don't ship multi-RTP variants of Coin Bandit, so the 96.31% figure is the only build you'll ever encounter with us.
